Kurt Beals is a graduate student in the German Literature and Culture program. He studied Philosophy and German at Oberlin College, and spent one semester abroad at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. After graduating from college, he spent four years in New York working at New Directions Publishing before returning to school. He received his Master's Degree in Fall 2007, and advanced to candidacy in May 2010. He is currently working on his dissertation, tentatively titled "Poetic Economies: Experimental Literature and Commodity Culture."
