Jason is currently working on his dissertation, which examines the role of Standard German and Swiss German Dialect in the German-speaking Swiss school system. He received a 2005-2006 Fulbright Swiss Government Grant to conduct research in Zürich for his dissertation.

Jason earned his BA in German Language and Literature from the University of Washington in 2000, and his MA in Germanic Linguistics at UC Berkeley in 2003. He has been Graduate Student Instructor for four years and is a recipient of the Outstanding GSI Award.
