In Memoriam: Ken Weisinger

We lament the loss of our friend and colleague, Professor Kenneth Weisinger, who died Monday July 28 after losing a long battle against cancer. He will be sorely missed Widely respected as a colleague and loved as a teacher, Professor Weisinger taught at Berkeley since 1972, holding a joint appointment in Comparative Literature and German. He is best known for his work on Goethe, Hölderlin, and Weimar Classicism, and was especially fond of teaching the history of the lyric. His stunning erudition in classical philology, literature and music as well as his genuine enthusiasm for teaching have been inspiring to all of us. He also served as Berkeley campus Director of the Education Abroad Programs, a job he wanted to continue after his retirement last semester. Ken's death is a great loss to us and to the university.

A memorial took place Monday, September 22nd from 4 - 6 pm in the Great Hall of the Faculty Club.
