AIESEC

The International Association of Students interested in Economics and Business is a large student organization that arranges for international internship exchanges. This program offers the student paid work abroad in any country where AIESEC is represented, including Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. In addition to this internship opportunity AIESEC provides members with practical experience in fields such as marketing, finance, IT, and Public Relations as it works to realize these internships by hosting foreign interns at local companies.

Council Exchanges

Council Exchanges (a division of the Council on International Educational Exchange) is a non-profit organization that supports Work Abroad programs in seven countries, including Germany.

Their ?Work In Germany? Program offers participants two different options. First, the internship option allows the participant work as an intern at a German company for up to six months, any time of year. The second is an Arbeitserlaubnis which is good for three months, between May 15 and October 15. This allows participants to look for work all over Germany, In past years, participants have found work in restaurants, offices, bars, and elsewhere.

International Cooperative Education

Each summer, several hundred young Americans travel to Europe and Asia under the auspices of the International Cooperative Education.

They work as paid interns in positions that are arranged by International Cooperative Education. Positions are usually available in a wide variety of employment fields including retail sales, hospitality, banking, education, and engineering.

Participants work 30 - 40 hours per week and earn a modest salary. Housing is arranged with local host families or by the employer. Work permits are arranged by International Cooperative Education.

To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least one year of college-level German, French, or Italian, and/or a minimum of two years of college-level Japanese.
